I own one, and yes, it is a great engine. Mine has the double hump heads and steel crank, and it has been the toughest little small block I've ever built. Almost indestructable, and good power for the size. A correctly built 327 will outperform a 350. If you don't want it, tell me where it is and I'll gladly take it off your hands.

327 was a chevy V8 made from early '60s to '68. It had a 4" bore and a 3.25" stroke. Properly built, its a great midrange and high RPM engine. Its basically a 350 with a shorter stroke crankshaft and different journal sizes. Its best in a light car like a Nova or a Camaro, or in a heavy car with really deep gearing.
The only problem with them is that all of them have been rebuilt by now. Its hard to find a good 327 that hasn't been screwed up by some ham-handed hotrodder.

i had a few 327s and they are excellant engines. the only thing i found out about the 327s, that they are hard on valve seals and motor mounts, but they are strong motors as long as you take care of them. i had a 327 in a 67 caprice once and it kept breaking motor mounts, until i put cables on the engine to take the stress off of the mounts.but if you got a good one, then you have a rare engine, just like the 283, they are rare.

absolutely. that was chevys work horse for many years but if ya really wanna go look for the 4 bolt main, forged crank, with the 202 heads really rare though usually found in the mid 60,s to70 ss models, although you can still clone one through after market, just make sure you start with the 4 bolt block

probably the best small block they made unfortunately they were made to run on leaded fuel 92 octane reg for the 250 & 98 minum octane for the 300 if you change the pistons & valve seats to run on 87 unleded gas they dont have much power due to the 8.5 compression.

Probably one of the BEST engines GM ever built. They got away from it to satisfy the EPA.

That engine has been around for years. They can put out a lot of power, and survive. You should get good service out of it. good luck.
