Wal-Mart lost a lot of business when they did that. Most people feel they can pay the total amount up front at any store, and don't need Wal-Mart anymore.
I have listened to people complain about it quite a bit.
It definitely was one of the stupidest things they have done..

It certainly attributes to their bottom line being in the red the last three quarters. Kmart has layaway and is certainly getting more customers that used to shop at Walmart.

i wanted to use that on my pocket rocket but they're like umm don't you have 250 dollars lying around. I was 10 at the time.
i was miffed they didnt have it.

who needs lay away at wal mart. if you cant afford to buy something at wal mart right away then you need another job
