There is here too! Is it sort of yellowy and moving really slowly across the sky? I asked an old lady and she said it was something called the "sun" but I don't believe her.

The sun is yawning..it gives up a clue when it drops down over the horizon and turns everything red.
On the other hand it could mean that the clouds are breaking up and letting the sun pop its head through which in turn seems to be much brighter than normal. At this time of year the sun is higher in the sky. We get used to the darker periods and our eyes settle down that way.

It is plasma. Plasma is the source of light waves.

That light can be anything ranging from a lamp to stars above the sky.

The color of the light varies because of certain factors like another object filtering the waves of light or the temperature of the source of light

I've read in some history books about this thing called the Sun. I've not seen it for a very long time so can't tell you if that's what you saw. But I'd guess so.

Are you perchance in Scotland? Here in the Forth valley we seem miraculously to escape the rain and gloom on a regular basis. BTW we HAVEN'T forgotten what the sun looks like here. LOL.

I think you must have had a quick glimpse of the sun. It has always been there, but its been hiding behind thick grey clouds lately.

Possibly a strange phenomena called the sun, but it's highly unlikely, could be aliens landing.
