I use "dude".
My guess is that people influenced by American culture say "dude". But the English, Welsh, Irish, Australians prefer to use mate.
I am also inclined to believe that "Bloke, chap and lad" are used mostly by the British, 'bro" by Americans and "man" by Indians (I should know! ;) ).

You will find that the majority of respondents from the U.S. use the word Dude or Bro, while those from England will use Bloke, And those from the Land Down Under (Australia) tend to use Mate.
There are of course exceptions to every rule.

Dude. But I don't use any of them much at all. I've never used bloke or chap or mate......I'm an American so I guess those are just not commonly used here, mate.
