It is neither a biological thing, nor a hardware fantasy. It is a self confidence / self image thing more than anything. Perhaps with a smattering of ego thrown in there for good measure. Blame society for the problem too many hours spent watching shows where the guys have a gigantic hard drive.
These guys who tend to exagerate generally are not very secure with themselves or their body image is in question.
For those poor unfortunate guys who have the problem of exagerating the size of their "hard drive" best be straight up cause she's going to know the moment she tries to access your terminal.....then the jig is up

Lol i don't lie about my Ram i only have a 12 gig hard drive and 98 MB of Ram, i run windows 98 software and i have 28 viruses in my quarantine.

Sharla, it's a guy thing. We do this with everything, and we do it with a smile. It's like an inside joke that everyone can figure out. When someone asks me why my "whatever" is bigger than theirs, I answer the same way every time. "Genetics" lol I don't care if it's a motorcycle, jet ski, flower, hangnail, whatever! It's a stupid joke that still gets laughs!

I don't know what you are talking about....did I tell you that I have 4 hard drives.....3 internal and 1 external......total close to 750 gbs of storage....r u impressed..... :D

I do have a huge hard drive. Physiologically I am strait up average (no pun intended,) but my hard drive is big.

i dont know personaly i think memory is a very senseitive thing to us guys, i mean without a big hard drive we wont get dates

I guess it is due to the society's pressure that makes them think that bigger is better.
I would say it is similar to why woman are so concerned about their weight and why they try to make themselves look like models.
The pressures of society are a *****.
