The Gossip Girl Series-
There are about 10 books I think. They're written by Cecily von Zeigesar. It's a story about this group of friends who are the richest of the rich in New York City. It tells about all the drama and relationships they go through in their lives.

The Lioness Quartet-
There are 4 books in this particular series, but Tamora Pierce has written other quartets set in the same place. There is some magic and fantasy stuff, but it's also writen to where that isn't the complete focus of the book. The four are about a girl who defies her family to become a knight and the struggles she goes through to achieve her dream.

Amber Beach; Jade Island; Pearl Cove; Midnight in Ruby Bayou-
These aren't really teenage books, but I'm seventeen and I've read them so, yeah. They're written by Elizabeth Lowell, and she's written some others outside of the series. They're all about a different member of the Donovan family and they're international gem buisness.

Twilight and New Moon-
These also have some fantasy because they're about vampires but they're really good. Written by Stephanie Meyer. They're about a girl who moves to live with family and meets a guy she likes. He turns out to be a vampire. Yeah, really good.

To Catch a Pirate-
Written by Jad Parker. It's, obviously by the title, about pirates. Really good though, with alot of twists.

Elizabeth Peters-
That's the authors name, she's written too many books to put them down. If you like mysteries then she's a really good bet. Also, most of her books are part of a series about a family of egyptologists, so if you like history and stuff they're really good.

The Dark Materials Series-
By Phillip Pullman. These are also really good. Kind of magical, but not really. The first on is The Golden Compass, then The Subtle Knife, then The Amber Spyglass. There is also going to be a movie coming out about The Golden Compass.

Just 1 book this summer!! You are missing out on some serious fun if you limit yourself to just one book!

Read Maximum Ride by James Patterson. Oh, wait, that might be magical.

Hmm, how about biographies? Madame Curie by Eve Curie was a WONDERFULLY LYRICAL book. Note Eve's wistfulness as she discusses herself and how she wished her mom had pushed her. Eve is a beautiful writer, hope you can find the book. It may have gone out of print again, it was first published in 1937 and then came out again a few years ago. I bought 4 copies, it is that beautiful a book.

Oh, you have to laugh yourself silly with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I got hysterical fits at some points in the book.

Read sobering Ann Rule true crime stories. Especially the STranger beside me. You will become lots more leery of men who seem to have broken arms in casts, and won't be so willing to be helpful to them. That was Ted Bundy's very useful ploy to kill several beautiful women. Oh, and that one about Fahey-Capani, was it And Never Let Her Go. You will never get involved with a married man if you read that story.

Read a James Michener novel, like Hawaii. Gives a true history of Hawaii at the saem time as a very entertaining story.

If you don't like Pride and Prejudice, then you are not a girl!! It's just that it is funny as hell, and takes a couple of re-readings to get the most fun out of it. Every girl will feel for Elizabeth in her fury and her embarrassment.

There are just so many great books and so many good writers! How can you limit yourself to just one?????

'Watership Down'
A tender, engrossing story of a world we don't think about very often, no magic, just working together. Rabbits.
The Caine Mutiny

The Mutiny on the Bounty
Both good action books, based on true life events.

'Gone with the Wind' even, no especially, if you've seen the movie, it is expansive and will take you into a world long gone.

I really, really love The Boyfriend List and The Boy Book by E. Lockhart. They are both so easy to relate to! I highly, highly recommend them if you haven't read them yet. The Boy Book is the sequel to The Boyfriend List. Good luck!

Go for a classic-Great Expectations by Charles Dickens-It's an ironic tale full of subtle humour, spiritual growth, and the odd reference here and there to themes of a BDSM variety!that and it will increase your vocabulary ten fold! That or just go for some standard chick lit!Brigid Jones by Helen Fielding-far better then the film!
