Personally I could care less and actually I wish he would get hurt and have to retire and not be able to break the record. I definetly do not think it will be as big as when Aaron beat Ruth. And hell Aaron is not even going to come see Bonds do it, cause I am sure he cannot stands Bonds attitude just like me, plus him doing steroids does not help either. But just my opinion, would like to hear what others think.

Now if he would come out and admit that he used steroids then I would be alot more willing to care and give him benefit of the doubt. And no I do not care if it is one of the biggest records to break I am still not gonna watch it. A big record that I thought was amazing was Cal Ripken playing through all those injuries and over 2600 straight games, where as Bonds is lazy and plays a night game and when the next is a day game he takes the day off. He is a bum.

I am rooting for him and hope he does break the record. I don't care about baseball history and all that gibberish. No record is sacred and none should be treated as so.
No one can say with 100% certainty that Aaron didn't do something to enhance his game. Steroids have been around for a long time and it's possible Aaron may have done them. He says, "no" and we believe him but we don't give Barry the same consideration.
And if Aaron was taking greenies or whatever they call them, then he was using something to help him and that gave him an advantage. SO in essence he may have cheated also.
Barry will break the record and even if it is determined that he used steroids, you can argue that he was hitting balls of pitchers that used steroids, so it was even.
And why doesn't anyone say Clemens has a tainted record. He's 45, doing things that older pitchers don't normally do and he looks bigger than he did 20 years ago. He has probably done steroids and human growth hormones, but no one criticizes him.

I see how steroids is a big factor but then again. You could go put some huge WWE wrestler who are twice as strong as bonds and not even see the ball coming at 90 MPH. Couldnt even lay down a bunt. Give the man a break. The only reason hes got an attitude towards it is cuz everyone gives him sh*t about the whole steroids and how he doesnt deserve it. Thats bull. Even if u were the strongest guy in the MLB if u dont have good plate vision...which bonds does...then u have no chance. Bonds = Best hitter ever in the MLB

Insiders say that in every competitive sport, opposing team members step back at times and let the other guy come out ahead.
In horse racing, if the jockeys know one of their friends is in a bind, they will lay back and let him win.
In baseball, pitchers give up a few here and there to help someone close to a record.
Just as in everything human, there is always something to either add or take away from a performer's accomplishment.
Since commercial sports fall into the entertainment category, whether or not Barry Bonds breaks a previous record is no more or less a valid milestone than who wins the next World Wrestling title.

In terms of consistency, If he can average 30 homeruns over the next 10 years, he'll be close. It's tough though. 10 years of consistency within the ages of 30-40. Alex is tailing off as we speak. In my opinion, it's possible. But I don't see him hitting 40 homeruns by 38.

Personally, I think all of you who say you won't be watching will certainly do the opposite. If someone tells me, "hey, you have a chance to witness baseball history", why would I not want that regardless of who/what that is? I mean, I'm not much for Barry Bonds before/after his steroid allegations, but I will watch if/when it happens.
And if you are going to post a question about Bonds, then you probably shouldn't put " I personally don't care" because that is hypocritical. You do care, otherwise, this would not be posted. Dig?

I don't think he'll be willing to retire before he breaks Aaron's record. And if he does then it might not really count that he beat it because of the factor of steroids.

Very sad that you wish for a fellow human being to get hurt just so he don't break a record. That being said until he fails a drug test i have no problem with it & besides in a couple of years barring injury Alex Rodriguez will break it anyway.

first of all, did he really do steroids? if he did, which i think so, then we shouldnt embrace it as a true record, b/c it would be tainted by the steroids, but if he is telling the truth then we should embrace it, but for now...
Barry Bonds 7?? ************
Hank Aaron 755
