Manual transmission people can easliy drive automatics. Some time I smash in the brake when I am in a automatic car embarrasing but once I remember PRNDL I am ok. YANK's! I drive a Holden Manaro called Pontiac GTO in the USA I might be the exception But over 400 hp Tremec six speed manual transmission " I am in heaven" You brits are all worried about global warming and drive little 1.4 liter diesel put puts. Good for you! With wide open spaces in america we can really let our cars go providing the police are not watching. Your country speed cameras? Who's brilliant idea was that? If your speed does not offend anyone was a offence commited?

I prefer driving a manual, I feel more in control. My mum drives an auto though because she was away from driving for quite a few years, and although she passed in a manual the roads are so much busier that when she last drove. This way, she doesn't have to get over her nerves of gears and clutch control she can just get in and go! It's given her freedom again, because otherwise she wouldn't be driving at all.

I say go with one auto and one stick. My main car is standard, I think stick is a lot of fun and keeps me into driving, My last 3 cars have been standard. But in defense of the automatic, alot of people lack coordination and no matter how much they try cant grasp standard shift. If I need to get somewhere and I cant drive, I know I have a automatic car in my driveway so someone else can get me where I need to be. Thats why I have one of each.

Auto
Manuals are for dullards stuck in the 19th century
3 pedals, 2 feet, uh-hello?
Clever me, look at my clutch control, oh, hang on I've got to change gear coming into this corner when I should be focusing on driving through it...oops
Don't be so judgemental
I passed on a manual, drove them for years, then saw the light on a holiday in Canada (where most cars are autos also)

very good. im just learning for the 3rd time. can drive a manual but thought i would give automatic a try,, my god, its so relaxing, fun, gentle, much more time to concentrate on other things. once you try it, you wont go back. however, i get all that from my colleagues at work who say im not really 'driving'

I personally drive an auto because that was my best option. I got it because it was my grandpas, and I trusted the car being in our family.
Manuals are fun to drive though, and are generally more 'gutsyer' than autos.

I have driven both, but in heavy traffic, like always, auto is a blessing, sit and let it take the strain. Also saves on clutch repairs,
