You have made quite a valid point here and raised a question I never really thought to ask.
I personally see no difference in black women in hip hop videos and white women in rock videos...it's all sexploitation to the extreme.
I think it is a sad double standard that drives home the point that we may never get past race in this country. We are so busy pointing out the differences that we fail to notice things we all do that are equally as negative.

I understnad what you're saying. But as a black woman, I worked at Hooters throughout college. The difference with Hooters, Playboy, and all those other "white" publications, the offer more than just a chance for the girls to look pretty and take pictures. They offer scholarships, good pay, and other opportunities, like modeling gigs and jobs. The producers of rap videos basically have auditions or just go to clubs picking any chick off the street. They offer them parts in their videos for no pay and treat them like they aren't ****. That is the big difference. A girl can do a hooters magazine or a playboy spread and be offered commercials, pageants and maybe even a job working at the magazine. It's sad, but true - Black women just are not respected. The few black women you had in Playboy or Hooters magazine have went on to do promotions and other modeling job. The black video girl just goes from video to video, then tour to tour, then bedroom to bedroom.
I think that the life is so glorified, and no one really knows the truth, thats why these new generation girls think it's so great that a rapper wants them to be in a video and they don't hope for anything more, or see where else it can take them in modeling.

I don't know. I saw this same point brought up yesterday on the show "hip hop honeys" (or something like that) on VHI
Its not even just editorials. There are plenty of rock stars and non-black musicians that also have groupies in the same manner that black rappers do. But for some reason the black groupies get talked about more than the others.

The difference between hooters girls, porn stars and rap video girls is that hooters girls, porn stars etc are somewhat hidden. Rap video girls are contributing to today’s pop culture. The chances of teenage girls being affected by video girls are so much higher than them being affected by the girls working in hooters or porn star girls, which I’m sure they don’t even see. Unfortunately rap music and the ideas portrayed in rap lyrics and videos play a huge part in pop culture. Its music.

Our economic system is a great, competitive hierarchy and it is forced on all of us whether we like it or not. White sociopathic males have the advantage from the get go -- for lying and cheating and killing their way to the "top." In fact, in order to get to the "top" of this pyramid of psychos you HAVE to be comfy with the idea of oppressing others. Black women are the most oppressed in society. They have the least "advantage" in getting to the "top". What you are noticing is the hierarchy of inequality, which is the plague of humanity. The racism and sexism are symptoms of an inequitous economic system; one that is rooted in privilege and domination. White women are also harmed by this system, as is everyone except the sociopaths who actually get off on oppressing others in order to be on top.

You have a good point. I have a similar question like this. It's all trash to me. They are all degrading themselves. They are taking their clothes off for money, it seems like its some form or prostitution to me. Whenever a white does anything people would still be on her side and put her on a pedatstal, but if it's a Black girl doing these things people would chastize her more and they would call her all types of racial slurs.

I gave you a star...i totally understand what you say! I think all those girls are trashj...those black girls in the hip hop videos degrade themselves..and allow the men to do it even more...they are nothing, they arent very good to this world....but i dont only think this way of others...i think this way of all the girls who sell their body for money, or dance like they have no manners in a music video. porn stars, i dont think highly of them either....but the world seems to think differently..that its okay for the girls gone wild videos, that its okay as long as the girls are white...but if its black women, just trashthem only.....people need to open their eyes and see that its not only black women in the hip hop videos....its also hooters, and play boy and things like that......those women who do such things are shameful...and the men who sit there and watch like they are a pimp or a male prosititute themself, or even actually PAY for a womans body...they are just as bad as the women.
You make a good point.

I never thought of that you are so right. And ppl consider stuff like playboy classy and stuff. So what they're saying is that naked white women is classy but half-naked black women is trash. Besides, anybody who's really into hiphop has noticed that the half-naked booty shakin is on the decline anyways.

I think the US carries a totally double standard and its all wrong. I cannot believe the minds of some of the racists on yahoo you would think we are all back in the 30s..very very disturbing. The racists should be singled out and educated.
