I'm talking about open questions, that is.
I mean, it's nice, but why not answer it?

I wondered the same thing too, so I asked someone who does this a lot. He said he "stars" interesting questions that he will later come back to answer.

I thought it was to put the question into your Q&A Network flow so that your Contacts and Fans could see it.

There are some questions that already have the same exact answer as you have chosen and it is just a waste of time to be redundant.

Still, the question deserves a star because it is a good question.. just like this one.

Sometimes they my feel as if the answers that have already been given covered the question. I have given a star, but no answer. I see 32 answers and I read all of them, then I think, well there is nothing left to say..lol If I like the question, I will give it a star.=)

I don't know either. I think it's really nice, and I appreciate it, but I don't understand it. It really confused me the first time it happened me. And for some reason, with my contacts I think it's different. But with random people that just see my question, read it then star it and move on... I think it's just weird. Oh, but I hate it when someone says something smarty about my question THEN stars it... I'd rather not have the star! Maybe that's just me. Oh well.

Good question!

I've done this before. I starred a question that I wanted to know the answer of.

Someone asked how to remove paint from clothes when doing the laundry. I wanted to know the answer, so I starred his question to boost responses.

You star interesting questions and sometimes the interesting questions aren't easy to answer.

Because I think the question is interesting, but isn't always something I can answer. It lets my contacts know, and they can answer it. It benefits the questioner and my contacts.

I am guilty........ :~)

I starred a few questions which I have no answer to and also, those which I find interesting and would like to read the answers given later. Another reason is for my contacts to see the question which they might have missed.
