No it stops ringing when you pick it up. But on some phones the ringing stops before anyone gets a chance of answering it

I dont understand your question... When the "phone rings"? Phones dont have rings, rings are for humans to put on their fingers or for cows/pigs to pierce their nose with. I mean, come on, what use do phones have for rings? Unless they are proposing to you which is why you answer them... Heres an idea, When the phone is ringing, steal the ring and dump the phone

Only if you actually pick up the phone handset or flip it open. You can answer all day from across the room and it will continue ringing.
