Mine was in Portugal. We were hot thirsty and hungry coming from the beach and we went into this dingey place to get a burger. The waiter handed us them with his finger in a dirty bandage which was oozing blood. We hot footed it fairly quick and I couldn't eat all day after that!

We were visiting friends in the Lakes, and they had been raving about a particular restaurant as being top-notch. They took us there on our last night and I ordered a meal with a side salad. As we were talking I didn't really take much notice of my food, but when I'd already eaten most of the lettuce I actually noticed that the little bits in the dressing weren't herbs like I thought, they were black fly! It hadn't been properly washed, and when I scraped the leaves to one side, there was a little catapillar in there too! I just hope it was the one and only catapillar, otherwise all it's mates were in my belly. Our friends were so embarrassed!

In Sharm el Sheikh, we were on our honeymoon and we left the safety of the hotel one night and ventured into Naama Bay. We found a restaurant called Moussaka, my husband is Greek so we went there to see what it was like, not that we had much choice as we were almost dragged in by the waiters!!! I ordered a steak, I took one mouthful, but it was clearly rotten, I spat some of it out but I did swallow some. We were seriously overcharged and when we complained that the steak was off they shouted at us (they could no longer speak in English, even though half an hour before they spoke it perfectly well). We paid over the odds for a disgusting meal AND I ended up with severe food poisoning, I had to have some awful injections and medication for the rest of the holiday, I could barely eat but I went home a few kilos lighter!!

Mine was heading southbound on the A1 around 9 pm, about 15 years ago, the kids were hungry and i was a bit tired so we stopped at a cafe and it was like something from a horror film ?.
There was two old Lady's who were really grumpy, the place was shabby and the food had been in the heater for so long it had almost set, we could not use the toilet and when we sat down one woman turned off all the lights except the on at our table, and the kids were actually scared !.
We just drank the pop and tea and made a quick exit !.

I went to this restaurant with about 6 of my good friends. The bill was a little much ..... considering the food wasn't even good and the service was terrible. On top of that ....... when I asked for the check I didn't remember ordering that much..... $167???...... (it was around $120 in food, appetizers, drinks, taxes .....) so I asked the waitress what the heck was the $45 "miscellaneous" charge was for ...... she said "THE TIP! " .........I WAS LIKE ... WHAT?

I thought tips were optional (especially when the food is bad as well as the service) ......I am not cheap .... I was going to leave her a good tip ... but $45 was WAAAAY too much --- she did not deserve it! This place was not a "high class" restaurant either ...

I did end up talking to a manager and this lady got a "talking to" .... either way I WILL NEVER go back there again.

Surprisingly I had two that are nearly identical in the 'terrible' department but miles apart.

The First would be a well respected and Michelin rated 3 star Indian Restaurant in London... How that place got 3 stars is a mystery to me... I don't know which was worse... the food or the 'service' which could hardly be describe as 'service'.

The second was at the estate of a friend in Haiti. We had all been enjoying the things they had to offer when the subject came around to dinner. We all agreed on Langostinos and Crabs and I volunteered to go down the coast to a fishing village to pick up 'dinner'

It was a neat experience... the driver dropped me off at the front door of the fisherman's hut. I got into his dugout along with him and his son and they rowed me out to the lobster traps.

I picked out a dozen delicious looking lobsters and a couple of dozen crabs and they rowed me back to shore.

That night, the cooks had outdone theirselves... it was a beautiful meal... except... I got the bad lobster.

You have NEVER been as sick as you can be when you get a bad lobster out of a Haitian lobster trap... I was sick for 3 days and wishing I could die. To this day, I can't stand the smell of lobster and I can't even eat Rock Shrimp.

Eating out on Christmas day, the service was as bad as the food. None of the staff wanted to be there, and by the end of the meal neither did the guests.

Mine was about twenty five years ago when I was around ten. We went on holiday to Egypt and went to a restaurant that was popular with English (apparently!)
I asked for fish and chips but I was absolutely devastated when they brought it to the table. I was expecting battered fish and chunky chips. Oh no! The chips looked like they were just potato skin, they were so thin and the fish still looked alive! It still had its scales and fins and tail on and IT WAS STARING AT ME! The eye was even left in!

As my bf is an awkward sod and doesnt like sunday lunch we had to leave the restaurant and walk all the way back through the pub with people staring at us i was soooo embarrased. We ended up going to harvester, not that i mind harvester i love it there i just wanted a sunday lunch for a change!!

At a local restaurant and as the waiter was approaching our table I could see a long blonde hair dangling of the plate.

Well I cant think right off hand what my worst would be, but one would be when we were at Burger King and the people behind us were using the b- word or the s-word every other word! My mom gave them a dirty look and they were like "oops".
