water is coming out of the overflow spout whenever the dishwasher drains. There is also water coming out in the drain, where it's supposed to. How do I stop it from coming out the overflow?

Not sure what an overflow tube on a dishwasher is. I think you may be referring to an Air Gap (sits on top the counter). If so, they sometimes go bad and need replaced. Many areas that required these have found them unnecessary and no longer required. It may just be clogged with food also. Disconnect the hoses first to make sure they aren't clogged.

Over flow tube are thing of past inmost places. but. They are cheap and easy to replace. Could be a plug further down line like in garbage disposal or where dishwasher connects to drain Go buy a new one and check your out maybe just needs cleaned , if not you have one to replace it. .

. The houses I have been building we give the dishwasher its own drain .
