Yes... IF the cat had a tail. The cat instinctively uses it's tail as a counter-balance when in free-fall, rotating the body to bring the feet down. Cats with no tails lose the ability to always land on their feet.
And cats have been known to survive terminal velocity falls onto relatively soft terrain, so death wouldn't be a certainty.

Cats will always turn to land on their feet when dropped from any angle. The only exception to this is if the cat is deaf since it is the balance organs in the ear that enable it to do this. The height would not matter although, naturally, their is an optimum height that would kill the cat if it were dropped from it. 100 storeys would fit into that category. The reader who stated that the cat would use it's tail to turn is incorrect. Even tail-less Manx cats turn upright when dropped.

i recently read a report dat showed dat cats falling from greater heights are less injured dan dose which fall frm shorter ones

the cat would die, so what difference would it make??? and not mention cruelty to animals apply for dropping him from a 100 story building.
