x^2 - 13x + 42 = (x-6)(x-7) when factored also

x^2 - 36 = (x-6)(x+6) when factored
so
(x^2 - 13x + 42) / (x^2 - 36)

=(x-6)(x-7) / (x-6)(x+6)

= (x-7) / (x+6) ..........provided x ≠ 6

the end
.

(x^2-13x+42) =(x-7)(x-6) A
(x^2-36)=(x-6)(x+6) B
so, WHEN A is divided by B IT GIVES
(X-7) /(X+6)

(x^2 - 13x + 42) / (x^2 - 36)
= (x-7)(x-6)/ (x-6)(x+6)
=(x-7)/(x+6)

=simplify the expression in the numerator and denominator. => (x-7)(x-6) / (x+6) (x-6)
= cancel out the (x-6) in the numerator and denominator to have (x-7) / (x+6)
therefore the answer is (x-7) / (x+6).

(x^2 - 13x + 42) / (x^2 - 36)
= [(x-6)(x-7)]/[(x-6)(x+6)]
= (x-7)/(x+6)

(x^2 - 13x +42 ) (X^2 - 36)
(x^2-6x-7x+42) (X^2-6^2)
x(x-6) -7(x-6) (x-6)(x+6) i.e. (x^2 -y^2) = (x-y) (x+y)
(x-7) (x-6) (x-6) (x +6)
(x-6) (x+6) (x-7)

= [ (x - 7).(x - 6) ] / [ (x - 6).(x + 6) ]
= (x - 7) / (x + 6)
