The closest airport is London City Airport located in the borough of Newham and close to the Docklands. However this airport will only fly short distances and doesn't fly to places like the USA or anywhere outside Europe.

For long haul flights Gatwick is the best airport and it has really good transport links, so is easy to get to.

City Airport is,, However, its a very very VERY! small airport so if your flying from USA you wouldnt be able to fly into city aiport and ou would have to go to Heathrow ...City airport only handles in-country flights (including ireland) and bussiness's who have small private planes
