plus, i have about 100-200 teeny baby pain in the butt trumpet snails i'm trying to get rid of.

reason for only those fish, one of my two power filters gave out and only these fish survived (about 8 months ago). these were the original fish i got around 2 and a half years ago and are still going strong. all others died along the way.

Clean out the tank and start over! I mean clean out, strip down and wash gravel! The snails will eventually overrun and foul the tank, anyway! Get rid of them ASAP!
Snails are in the top ten big No-No's of fresh-water aquarium keeping. (#1 is overfeeding) Commercial snail-killing products can be toxic to fish, and corys are touchy where water chemistry is concerned. The snail-killers kill the snails, allright, but then they rot, and foul the tank! And if you have gravel, you can't dip them all out. Then there's the residual copper from the snail-killer, and to remove that, you must do multiple water changes anyway! In the long run, the lazy way out requires MORE work...so go ahead and change the entire tank now. And to catch those corys you will need to remove everything from the tank anyway...they're fast little guys!
As for what I would get its not up to me, but up to you. What do you like, that you have seen so far? If you wish, you can email me direct about possible choices and combinations, and I would STRONGLY recommend you not make any purchases unless you know what you are doing. The fact that you asked says alot about you, to begin with. I will be glad to assist in any way possible both for your sake and the fish's. My parents were amateur guppy breeders and I have kept untold salt and fresh-water tanks. A have also worked for Doctors Pet Center as a fish dept. rep. Have fun and let me hear from you! teshua@verizon.net

Well, first I would get the filtration back up to where it needs to be, then I personally would go with a few medium sized tetras, such as Congo tetras, or bleeding hearts. A school of 6 of each type and 3-4 types A few Rainbow fish for activity and additional color (again,4-6 of each and 2-3 types) a clown loach for color and the snail problem (they eat snails) and a few plants (live or fake) for a bit of a natural look. That would be my choices.
