Usually computers come with anti-virus protection for a limited time (one year or less). If you have Norton, for example, you should see it running on the computer. In addition, the Norton software will remind you when the software trial is up. You'll need to purchase new anti-virus software at that time in order for your computer security to be up to date. There are a lot of companies out there....try Norton or McAfee, F-Secure, among many.

On a new system you'll have a trial period to use the software, after that trial expires you have to either buy a new subscription or go with another product. There are several free security products available, take a look these 2:

Either one will provide you with good virus protection and of course they are both free. Stay away from Norton it is a power hog and too many viruses are written specifically for their software.

When you buy a new computer they usually give a limited time free anti virus protection. But as soon the protection expires you have to buy a proper anti virus protection.

No computer that i've ever known of comes with it's own built in antivirus. Norton is not a good antivirus. You have to pay for any antivirus or is isn't worth using. Avast is a great choice for antivirus.
