Unfortunatley... the only thing that usually works is walking around. That rocks them to sleep, but you can't get any rest like that, now can you!? So... best to just lay still, and wait... I know it is not the answer you were hoping for. But it is true.
Everytime I would sit or lay down when I was pregnant with my son he would wake up and start doing the cha-cha!!
Good luck!

It's not likely there's anything you can really do to calm the baby down. Eventually you'll get used to it and manage to sleep regardless. When it first started happening to me, I started going to lay down earlier then I planned on actually falling asleep. That way baby had time to roll around and kick and get tired again by the time I was ready for sleep. It may work for you - it may not. It's worth a try though.

well babies are active when you are lying down and calm... when i was pregnant my son would be awake at all hours of the morning, turning and kicking which would wake me up because of the uncomfortable feeling. try having some warm milk and relaxing before going to bed. Also talk to your little one, you'd be surprised, she can already hear you and I am sure that it wont hurt to ask her to lay quietly so that you can get some sleep (",)
