I would hazzard a guess and say there would be no birds left in the tree as the gunshots would make the others all fly away. I am assuming the 3 birds went down being shot all at once with a shot gun????

None. The 12 remaining birds got scared at the sound of the gun and flew away.( So mean to shoot poor defensless birdies!)
