Continue in your UAE job to keep the money coming in. It's not a bed of roses in the Hindi film industry in Mumbai where you have to be very very lucky to get the right break for the whole industry to notice you, like Anupam Kher got the break from Mahesh Bhatt. You are lucky in one way that now a lot of film shootings are taking place in Dubai when you can go and meet the directors and producers at their hotels or at the locations. Secondly, daily see the MISCELLANEOUS section in the CLASSIFIED JOBS SECTION of Dubai in the KHALEEJ TIMES where they require models for adfilms in Dubai. Try your luck with them to start with. But make sure your company bosses don't get angry if you get a chance to do an adfilm for TV. Take their permission so that you don't have any problems with your regular income. Recently modelzhunt@gmail.com had advertised for male and female actors for an INDO-PAK TV Serial to be shot in Dubai. Try your luck with them. But you will also have to prepare your portfolio of pictures in various moods suitable to your personality.
Have patience as a lot of adfilms and feature films production houses are opening offices in Dubai Media City. Go there and find out who needs models and actors. Since you are SALES EXECUTIVE you must be travelling so you have the opportunity to visit these offices. Have your own email id and private mobile number where production houses can contact you.
DON'T leave your job to come to Mumbai to become an actor as everyday ten thousand people come to Mumbai from all over India to become actors and singers.
I have also worked in Dubai for several years and now I am also a MODEL/TV/CINE ARTISTE in Mumbai since ten years, but doing only small roles that too after long intervals which hardly pays anything. Visit my website www.rusimistry.com to see my details.
If you are in your twenties, I'd sincerely advise you to do some good marketing course in Dubai and make a successful marketing career in Dubai. That'll give you a higher job as your experience grows and bigger salaries as the Gulf region survives in marketing and trading mainly. Don't be hasty, this takes time and you must gain lots of experience on the way. By the time you are 35 you will definitely have a better job in marketing. Take interest in your company's products and grow with the company. You will not regret it. But by joining films you may regret your decision when you are 50 years old and still nowhere. Then you'll not get a job in Dubai again.
I wish you all the best.

if you want to start a career in show business and are serious about fast results then you should hire an acting or vocal coach to work with you on your skills. If you hire some one local it shouldnt be too much of a financial strain. Then audition and register with agencies. If you get picked, you will have to pay nothing up front. You only have to pay them when you get paid. (standard 10% of earnings) If all goes well you will be getting jobs in no time and for a lot cheaper then taking professional acting classes at some where like john robert powers for over 2,000 dollers.
good luck!!

Hi,
a lot of people ask a similar question.
First, know what you're getting yourself into.
Go and download a completely free resource I created called: What It Takes To Become An Actor. Just sign in and you'll be able to download it.
The financial question is one that many, many actors have. Go to this page: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/money_making_opportunities.html and
http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/making_money.html
http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/job_ideas_for_actors.html
http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/choices.html
In addition, I'll give you a little piece of advice:
A few years ago in my first movement acting class, our teacher asked us a question that he invited us to reflect upon. The question was: "How many different ways are there to get someone to do what you want?" The reason he asked us that question was because, as actors if we constantly react to situations in a standard and canned way, and if that way is always the same, we will not be very interesting or compelling in our performances. In life that translates into, if we keep doing the same things that we have always done, then we can only expect to get the same results. Anyway, our teacher had us do exercises around just four of the many possible ways that there are to try and get someone to do what we want them to do. The four ways that we worked on in that class were: to entice, to demand, to plead, to encourage.
I never forgot that class. I consider myself to be a very positive, determined and innovative person. I pride myself in finding new ways, innovative ways to solve issues and overcome challenges, to get the money I need to be able to focus on my career and to promote myself as an actor and to promote my business of educational entertainment.
But I had never quite thought about things in that particular way. Now it is a question that I use not only in my acting, but also in my life when I have to find solutions, that sometimes seem too big or too difficult to solve. And it helps me tremendously!
This issue of finding different solutions is so important, that in my book and in my seminars I dedicate an entire section to it, taking the participants through three structured problem-solving methods that can be used to help find different solutions in many different situations. They are part of a bigger section, which deals with developing one’s creativity. Why? In part for questions just like the one you have, but it also comes in handy when we talk about the promotion of one’s acting career!
I believe that the more creative we are, the more solutions we can find to some of the obstacles that present themselves. We can also find different ways to stand out among the rest of our competition!
Hope this helps!
Tony

Don`t bother. You don`t sound convinced. If you really wanted to do it, you would have passion, and loads of the confidence you will require.
That is why few succeed in all areas of life. You need passion, fire, determination, confidence, belief and drive.
All you have is an interest.......(next!)
oh by the way, if I am wrong, get out there and do it!

When you can afford to take acting classes, find one and enroll. Call the Community college for names of local acting teachers and acting schools.
