Here is what I think it means, AMericans in general are pretty much sick of congress, I also think that is why the dems won a few seats in 06, a mid-term election where this sort of thing normally happens, because many who would vote republican stayed home. For the doubters go look up the numbers, it is fact.
In 08 it is going to be a different picture, there is going to be a large turnout thanks in a great part to hillay running. With her negatives, many who might not go vote are going to just to ensure she is NOT elected, and while they are there they are going to punish the Dems for their temerity in nominating this abomination on our freedom and liberty.
These Dems in the Senate voted to give our country away, Americans are not going to forget that and some of them will not be in office further. Many, many Dems voters are going to vote against these people so I believe we will at least see a Republican White House and Senate in 09, given the stellar performance of pelosi and her stooges in the democratic socialist party I am going to go out on a limb here and predict that the repubs will win the House as well.
These senators are traitors to AMerica, they do not represent we the people and made that quite clear in pushing to give amnesty to criminals despite 86% of Americans demanding they do not. These people do not deserve to be in office.

Congress consists of members of both parties, and individual Representatives (and, to a lesser extent, Senators) tend to run on issues relevant to thier own districts. Thus, most people like thier own congressmen, but disaprove of Congress, as a whole, particularly in regard to the other party. For instance, a hard-core left-wing democrat might strongly disaprove of Congress, because it's failed to stand up to Bush and end the War. Conversely, almost any republican might disaprove of Congress simply because it's Democrat-controlled at the moment. So, while Bush gets his hate mainly from the left, Congress gets it from both ends of the spectrum.

You might be right. I have always been a republican, until this past year. When the dems got control of the congress all i have heard is Bush bashing, troop Bashing from the dems, and lies from the repubs. I won't vote for either party in 08. So, the independents and other parties need to get on the stick and start getting their people some exposure. I think Obama is wasting his time raising thirty million dollars in a quarter. He could raise sixty million, but we all know he is a part of the pack of liars in DC. He voted for the immigration reform bill, and that alone means NO VOTE FROM ME!

The Dems are so deluded that nothing will likely cause them to change course on anything. Personally I think this would actually be the perfect opportunity for a third party candidate if they would come in truly determined to do the job the way the people want it done. Unfortunately any candidate that isn't working for the status quo would get zero support from any major media, and would therefore get drowned out by the barrage of BS from both major parties. We truly seem to have a situation where all of those in power are bought and paid for,and in the long run they are all on the same side, and it is not in any way on the side of the average American.

The ironic thing is that Bush doesn't care about popularity contests, he just leads.
The Dummycratic "Do-Nothing" Congress is a joke, and 08 will prove that even more.

Because our President can't be re-elected he should be left to do as he pleases? I'm sorry you feel anyone questioning our President is bashing him. Truman's ratings were due to Korea and Nixon's were due to Vietnam and Watergate. It appears Americans don't care for conflicts that are politically driven unlike FDR who was re-elected during the second world war. Republicans also still hold almost half of congress. Did they vote against their pay raise? I think Americans are fed up with our President and congress because it was controlled by republicans who bullyied and terrified us into Iraq and now that democrats have a slim majority and are trying to get us out, republicans are seen as blocking that from happening. I think that plays a large part in their low approval rating. Instead of criticizing democrats about the yearly raise congress gives themselves (11 years of republican controlled congress, ten raises) maybe republicans should think about what they are really backing when they vote for people like President Bush. Can you honestly say he has done a good job as President? Are you happy with his out of control spending? His trying to dump millions of illegals on you and your wallet? Our open borders six years after 9/11? Our incredible debt? Expanding government? Are these the kinds of things republicans and especially conservatives support? From what I know of conservatives, this is exactly the kind of thing they despise in democrats. I think it's time for a reality check in the GOP.

"Bush approval ratings are low and get lower each day.
Congress ratings are lower because of the obstructionist Republicans.
The Vice Presidents approval ratings are nearing Zero.
I see all this meaning, Democrats win by a landslide."
Oh, so the Dems were exercising social conscience when they were the minority. Sorry, Slick, not drinking your Kool Aid

Not much can be accomplished in Congress as long as there is only a simple majority - and, as long as so many Republicans continue to do the 'will' of this administration!
For those who continue to criticize the democratic majority, I encourage you to learn more about the dynamics of congress, and what must occur to accomplish specific goals. If we all don't wise up, and stop beating one another up, we'll be too busy as our democracy floats down the river with all the new "oil spills" from our administration's big oil buddies!

i agree with you about the need for democrats to work for their raise...if nothing else, to show the 'do nothing but kiss bush's feet' repubs (who spent 6 years twiddling their thumbs and taking money from their fat-cat donors in return for legislative favors) how it's supposed to be done...funny, the same surveys showing lower approval ratings for congress show a majority favoring keeping the democrats i control of congress...so i'd say it's the body, not the party, that is in disfavor

Democrats have lower ratings because they are not able to control President Bush considering that they have the numbers in Congress.
