Remember that a parachute is half a sphere. Get a ball about 1 foot diameter. Mart a spot and then draw a line around the ball on it's circumference making sure that the spot is dead centre on the top of the ball. Draw lines equidistant from each other from the spot to the circumference representing 1/8th. An easy way is to draw a line being half, then half of that then half of that, leaving 1/8th. Place a piece of paper on the shape and mark it to form a template. Cut out eight pieces of thin cloth in the shape of the template plus 1/4 inch. Sew them together to form a half sphere.. Cut a small circle out from the top about 1/2" round as otherwise the parachute will tip over when used. Attach eight pieces of string about 15" long at each seam and tie around a weight or model parachutist and you're done. To use pull the parachute to it's full length, roll it up and throw into the air or drop from a height.
