Taste is a result of nervous signals from the tongue and the nose. So, if the nose is blocked, the taste sensed by the brain is different than otherwise.

this isn't a fact. but the way i see it is when you eat you breath hence smell the essence of the foods while u eat. but the thing im stumped on is the taste buds should still be able to make it taste the same. im still sticking with my answer above. but could be something else.
