You definitely want to get away from the integrated graphics card. Integrated graphics cards are great for doing word processing or Excel spreadsheets. But if you are considering using your system for video editing or serious gaming applications buy yourself a good stand alone video card. Also throw as much RAM as you can afford into your system. Just by upgrading those two features on your present system you will be amazed at the increase in performance.

Good Luck,

The first question you need to ask yourself is do I really need to upgrade and why? Are you a gamer? I am assuming that, since you are "new to this", someone told you you new to upgrade. If your computer plays games or movies with no problem then the need to upgrade isn't necessary but if there is a problem the first thing that I would upgrade would be the memory. The GeForce4 MX 440 is a very good cost effective card. Upgrading to the GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8X or GeForce4 MX 460 would greatly benefit you especially if you are using more than 1 output source i.e., dual monitors or combinations of CRTs and Flatscreens or TV.

To be perfectly frank, if you have some cash,.. upgrade everything,.. the motherboard; according to http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=1330 isn't all that great, nor is the CPU or the GFX card,.. it's about the same spec as the one I have now and I'M saving up for a completely new system. Most machines today, (depending what you want them for of course), are pretty powerful and fast; yours isn't.
I suggest you KEEP your current system, but do not throw it or sell it. Save up and get a faster, more powerful machine; but I can't suggest what exactly because I don't know what it is you want it for; gaming? Basic internet use? Video editting? Music creation? IM me if you want some sound advice. :)

It seems that motherboard only supports AGP 4x and you are unlikely to find a new graphics card that will fit. There are still some at 8x/4x that might be suitable. If you search Internet for AGP 4x cards, the higher priced models will be much faster than the MX440. See:

Most new graphics cards these days are PCI-e cards, and your motherboard doesn't have a PCI-e slot, so yea you will need to get a new motherboard if you want to use any of the new high end cards.
