There are different kinds of "truth." There are Scientific Truths, and Spiritual Truths. In this way, both "theories" are "true," but in different ways. The Biblical story of creation is a creation myth among many, many creation myths. Even though it is not a literal historical account, it contains allegory and symbolism that give insight into the Human Condition, human psychology and the spiritual nature of the Universe -- just as all myths do. Calling it a "myth," therefore, does not in any way diminish it's meaning or value, as anyone who has read Carl Jung or Joseph Campbell will tell you. The Scientific Theory of Evolution is the most plausible explanation of how life developed and diversified. Please remember that the word "theory" means something very different to a Scientist -- it is a widely accepted explanation based on what we know, and seems to be supported by the evidence, but like all things it is subject to change when we learn more. It is not the same thing as a hypothesis. Also, Scientific explanations of the origins of life and the Universe do not contradict the possibility of a God or Gods causing, creating, or helping things along. Just because a Scientist cannot measure something, doesn't mean it isn't there. So, as others have stated, I do not think either one is mutually exclusive, and I think the "either/or" rhetoric gets in the way of a civil debate, and leads to such silliness as insisting that mythology be taught as "another theory" in a Science classroom. Evolution is, in all appearances based on evidence, a fact. But that does not mean that there isn't a God or Gods out there.

The way I look at it is that these two theories can be intertwined - That a Supreme Being got things going in an evolutionary way and that maybe the Bible doesn't contradict this idea and that the story in Genesis was a simplified version of events that took so long in the making - like a slow evolution into "Man". Also I think it is hard to imagine just "Nature" sort of bringing things together (from what??) - which I would class a miraculous or a God sort of bringing things together (from what??) as equally amazing. It could be a matter of "God working in mysterious ways - his wonders to perceive" or just Nature ditto?????
But from a religious argument point of view I don't think it is an either/or answer but surely evolution has been studied and makes sense to me anyway.

there is no proof in the theory of evolution. there are no fossil records that show a transition from one species to another. Birds come from birds, humans come from humans.etc. a bird cannot produce a dog and a chimp cannot produce a human. now evolution does exist in the context of a species adapting to survive, but not to the extent that it changes to an entirely different species. What happens in nature when an offspring is different and malformed? the parents kill it. another example is if a reptile produced an offspring with malformed front legs that were the predeccssor to wings. it couldnt fly and couldnt walk properly and couldnt hunt or run from predators. it would die. Now to the old question, which came first the shicken or the egg? now i wasnt there but i believe that all species appeared as fully formed functional adults to survive.

Ask your heart, and it will grant you your answer-
sorry to go all guru on that answer but, really, the power of belief and perception is unlmitted in a way. So seek the answer in your heart, and you may find out how life began... I personally think the world began when life decided to exsist, and it is not comprehendable to get a grip on when and how that how that happened unless you can see things through Gods mind...

Evolution is definetly the most likely answer. In the 1970s University of California were able to use Mitochondrian genes and samples from people all over the world to prove that all humans on earth evolved from a common ape ancestor in Africa.

yet it is the finished foundation for youthful-Earth Creationism and Bible Literalism. comprehend that those human beings have little experience of self-decision and private duty . They place self assurance in the Bible as a ethical compass for each decision they bump into in existence. on account that they have faith the Bible is God-inspired and, for this reason, proper, in case you have been to disprove even one among its memories it might, of their twisted minds, discredit the finished e book and, for this reason, pass away them helpless and without direction. it is why they shelter the (alleged) truthfulness of their e book so adamantly. they have faith that if the thought an invisible magic guy created the Earth in 6 days is shown to be a fabrication... then so are the ten commandments and that would propose we are all loose to homicide, thieve and sleep with one yet another's better halves without worry of retribution. They fail to work out that rational and enlightened men and females choose no worry of coercion or damnation to act rationally and in a civilized way. purely examine non violent international locations like Norway, Finland or Denmark, the place atheism is the norm and violence, theft and rape are purely approximately non-existent.

I don't see why the two are mutually exclusive.
Who's to say that God didn't start evolution?
