It was WillieThrower He helped Michigan State to a national championship in 1952 and signed with the Bears as backup quarterback. Passed away 5 years ago

James Harris of the Rams was the real first starting QB. Marlin Briscoe was a receiver who could also play QB. he started some during injuries and stuff. Harris was the first named starting QB for a whole season.
