I have an energy saving lightbulb with an ioniser built in to it that I want to use as my main light in my bedroom. However, the ceiling fittings in my house are all bayonet fittings.

Is it possible to get this certain lightbulb working in a bayonet fitting on my ceiling via the use of an adapter or any other possible method?

It may be easier, just to change the fitting, I don't know of an adaptor.

Interesting Q. I use adapters often in a commercial building, as I'm downsizing LARGE incandescents to spiral fluoresents, but have never seen a conversion you're looking for.

Might it not be just as easy and cost effective to change the receptacles?

of those 2 it may be bayonet. As a fellow observed as Edison had a hand in inventing the 1st lightbulbs and screw in bulb is greater properly observed as Edison Screw i think that is why.

Sure... I assume you're in the UK given your nickname...
Maplin Electronics sell such adaptors. There may be a store near you, or they do mail-order.
