Has anyone noticed how regularily responses start with 'typical' or 'classic' as if that invariably lends weight to their dismissive reasoning?

Young man you seem to have a classic case of small man sydrome. This is typical in men shorter than 5 feet 6.
Would that be you ?

A lot of people think that philosophy is a high falootin subject. It is not and a person needs little or no education to be a philosopher or be philosophical.

Some of the best philosophers I have ever met have been plain ordinary people I've come across in pubs.

Maybe it's the drink. Whatever the reason, quite often words of considerable wisdom do come from the mouths of the most ordinary folk.

Smug is a swear word. Well, it has only four letters. Must be.

GOOD QUESTION...Just like my response start. When you have a head like a flat football, that cannot be inflated no matter how hard you try. You begin to think, it may have a puncture. So...When you see a question from some prat, about crap, it makes you smile, and think, I'll answer that one. It's irrelevant what answer you give, because initially, you assume the person asking a dumb question, is dumb. They may in fact, be bored. Just like a flat football. Or such a lovely, kind, inocent person, that they just act openly. Everything is just an ego trip, or a mind game. So rattle of bollocks, like you are a professor. After all, that's all they do.

Not only the self-styled like us lot! What about some of the professionals...wow, they think they've got it all wrapped up...in truth..none of us know much at all about anything! We can only talk of our own experiences truthfully can't we? We each have our own unique outlook on life, what seems ok to one is peculiar to another. Philosophy usually goes round and round and ends up asking more questions. It's a good job to have because you'll never be out of work!

My dear friend ,go the inquisitive and critical Q&A way on a personal intimate journal to find the best answer.Never rely on what is said about philosophers or what they say -they are not the only ones with brains and concepts. What about you?Don't you have brains like any human ( don't think you are an ET!).Then we can talk about your question.OK.LOL

Surely this is just typical of the classic pub philosopher.

Words actually do have meanings. That's why spell check and Semantics are so important and valuable. If you don't use your words correctly - you are not actually communicating.

That's the way it is with gifted people. They can't help it, especially if they know that they have a gift that others don't. They are human, they flaunt what they've got.
