Now that Bush did indeed pardon his loyal lap dog, how will it effect the 08 election and what do you think of the GOP currently?

Opps - your right, the sentence was commuted, my bad. For the record, I register as an independent, and I don't care to hear any more about Billy bob clinton - he ain't in the big oval office anymore, I want to focus on now and next year- Yes, Libby was a scape goat, and did not deserve to take the fall by himself, but what effect will the lessening of the sentence have on the 08 elections? Will it be a sound bite on TV? Or a real issue? Will the people who actually leaked the info on the CIA agent get any type of real punishment, not just getting fired from their postition ?

It probably won't. The lowest point of the Republican Party was the fall out of Richard Nixon. The Republicans were thrashed and in came clueless Carter that managed to destroy the Democratic party so much so that the biggest landslide in election history was when a actor and former governor of California Ronald Regan beat him. A guy that was in a movie called Bed Time For Bonzo beat a guy with a degree in nuclear science. The Democrats have nobody that could last 8 years, let alone create a mini dynasty, something even Bill Clinton failed to do.
I think the Republicans do have their act together and the Democrats don't. I think the Democratic senators are actually scared the Republicians will lose more seats. The Los Angeles Times is sure scared. Why? Because of two things. One is the Democrats are getting in because they aren't Republicans. It's like herding cats and if they start messing up the Republicans will be voted into office the next time. Close votes also allow more bribe money to the senators. When it's close every senator becomes a swing voter. If the Democrats are in large numbers, their vote per senator becomes worth less as other senators would just take their place. The Democrats are going to vote against their own party when they are in the vast majority. This could hurt California which votes mostly Democratic. The democratic congress would be able to skip the pork going to California and that's also why the Los Angeles Times is scared.

Absolutely, Bush will pardon him. Scooter can drag out appeals and Bush can pardon hin as he leaves office. I think we know that had Cheney or Rove been named by Libby, he wouldn't have taken the fall for them. Why is this pardon especially heinous? Because we all suspect that Libby only lied for those higher ups-how high does it go? Feels Watergate-ish to me. This is only the beginning. I just want to add for those who keep saying "Plame wasn't covert" & anyone could have obtained that information. If your comany has your SS# on file, do you think he should divulge your Social Security # in a staff meeting?

If anything, it'll lead to yet another slight downturn in the Republican's chances. Yes, it strengthened the base support, but you can't win on your base alone.
The majority of Americans saw it for what it was: The president short circuited the justice system.
How many members of his own administration did Clinton pardon or commute?

If you are going to get valid responses.....ask valid questions...with facts!!! Commuted....not pardoned...you really need to understand the difference and the truth of the matter....wait a minute.....that's right... the truth cannot be relevant to you or your lies cannot be propagated....just do me one favor...compare Bush's record with Clinton's....even "head in the sand" democrats cannot refute the facts concerning who used his Presidential "right" to pardon or commute sentences while in office....geez! Libby was a scapegoat and any rational person can see that....but then again, I am responding to a lefty...so sorry for use an unfamiliar term.

it will have no effect. Election is far enough away, and the republican candidates will distance themselves from it. Nobody (except a lib) is dumb enough to generalize that all republicans think and act the same as George Bush.
If we all thought the same, then is hillary getting some with an intern as well?

You sound like just another of the group-think liberal drones...It has no effect at all! This was a non-issue. Presidents have been doing this for decades. Either Giulianni or Romney are more appealing than the "Ice Princess" any way. Just goes to show you how the media spins only what reinforces their agenda. Even worse, how you absorb it all. Did you know that Al-Qaeda is now at war within in its own factions? Probably not...ABC,NBC and CBS won't show that. They'd rather post U.S. death tolls and strike at Bush with whatever trash they can.
HEY STYREE: What the hell are you trying to say any how?

It won't. Now, if he manages to pardon 20,000,000 Mexican criminals, THAT will ensure a Democrat in office in 2008, running on a promise to undo the damge done to our country. Fortunately there were enough "free thinkers" last week to block that from happening.

No. it doesn't change my opinion. Clinton did it for all manner of terrorists and criminals. Bush didn't pardon Libby, he reduced his sentence, 2 completely different things.

Ann Libby wasn't PARDON his sentence was commuted.
The conviction still stands.
Considering the memory of most people who vote is about 30 days.
When ask about Libby come Nov. you will get a lot of dumb looks.
