Do i insert leaf green first and start the DS in pokemon diamond or is it the other way???

I was having troubles. i cant find any pokemon that requires Leafgreen. even searching at their location i still cant find them. wat am i doing wrong.
I dont want to hear anything about pal park

it takes a while to find them. Use the pokeradar to help you look for them.
