Yes, I read that book decades ago. Jane seemed to be a sensitive but practical type of person. She just kept keeping on. Her job as a governess took her places. Working women were often looked down upon and mistreated, but she was strong and knew right from wrong. Full of honesty and integrity. How she put up with Mr. Rochester, I'll never know, but she did and she came to love him. It was a shock to find that he was married! And she, well I'll not spoil it for others who haven't yet read the book. It's good, very good. I loved the book and Jane.

I read The Eyre Affair which is a parody with a woman that could talk to characters in the movie. I read Pride Prejudice and Zombies. I would pick up Jane Eryotica, and read the first chapter in the store and make up my mind then about reading more. I think Jane Austin would turn over in her grade over all of them. They were wound too tight in that century. I hated Silas Marner. I would love to see that one mashed up and made readable. I have seen zombies, sea monsters, vampires, aliens, and robots. So perhaps fairies and unicorns. I could be George Elliot, IV. Personally I think "George" deserves to have her awful book parodied. I couldn't make it any more unreadable.

It is a classic book. Every one should read.
My favourite charecter us Jane.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Br–nte is one of my favorite nineteenth century novels. The story is narrated by Jane and chronicles her life as a governess in a mysterious mansion.
Jane teaches at a boarding school for orphan girls (where she spent several years) when she decides to become a private governess. She finds employment in a large mansion in the English countryside. Jane teaches Adele, a French girl cared for by the mansions's owner. The house, for all its grandeur, is a gloomy place, until its tall owner, Mr. Rochester, returns from his journey. He is cool and distant toward Jane at first, but the two soon become friends and Jane finds herself in love with him.-

I first read it when I was 12 or 13 and have read it several times since. I think most young girls strongly identify with Jane, even if we are not orphans or governesses. She's good, smart, strong and overcomes adversity. In other words, she's solid, brave and full of faith and hope. She's not a heroine in the dramatic sense, but in a quiet, every-day-life way.
If you see any of the movies made (and they're all good), try to see the old one with Orson Wells. Elizabeth Taylor's first movie role, she's Jane's friend at the orphanage, the one who dies.

Oh yes, I love it a lot, hve read it many times (sometimes just the end when I felt low and deserved a treat). You should try reading "The Eyre affair" by Jasper Fforde, it's not a sequel but a literary detective novel, very clever and so much more enjoyable if you know the original novel well.

I adore this book... one of the finest pieces of literature I've ever laid eyes on. Mr. Rochester makes me want to slap him sometimes, but Jane is my favorite character. This story is so, so stunningly well-written and the idealism of Jane's character is beautifully portrayed. The growth of Rochester as a human being is wonderful to witness, though it comes about through tragedy.
It's also nice to be reminded of high values and ideals in today's world where revenge and personal gain at any cost are celebrated instead of forgiveness and strength of character. I love it!!

It is a wonderful book.
It tells us about the journey of a small girl-child growing into a women & knowing the difference between the right & wrong.
The book has been wonderfully written.
Well , i have read the book a long time ago , so i dont remember the name of the character but my favourite character in the book is the girl who became Jane's friend in school.
The one who lways got scolded by a rude teacher because of her carelessness & dirtiness but she was a gem of a person.
But sadly enough she died of viral fever.

I like Mr Rochester. Although he is described as not being particularly handsome. There is something about his charachter that is intriguing. He is intelligent, can sing and act. He has travelled widely and been exposed to the seamier side of life. He would never be dull.
