however if by copy you mean were influenced by, who isnt?

Lot of people here don't know that Led Zepplin absolutley lifted key parts of Stairway to Heaven, and never acknowleged it. When you hear the song they lifted from, you will be both surprised, and probably a bit disgusted/dissapointed (if you are a fan.) The band they stole it from it from is called "Spirit" and the song "Taurus."
The leader of Spirit was very kind when he said Led Zepplin "reworked" his song. My guess is that some serious money came his way via Led Zepplin.

No,No.No...Led Zeppelin is all songs that the band made up on their own."Stairway to Heaven" is a Led Zeppelin Original song.They didn't copy that from anyone,However Many Many Bands these days have copied Led Zeppelin's song "Stairway To Heaven".Understand?Most Muscians that want to learn to play guitar start their learning with many Led Zep songs,I personally learned the song "Babe I'm Gonna Leave you" off the 1st album as my 1st song that I was Able to play on the guitar.Only Because Stairway To Heaven wasn't heard yet,I had to wait a few more years until their 4th album came out and yes Everybody Loved The Song Stairway to heaven For years and years till today and It Still Is Good,Always will be I presume..........

Led Zepplin did copy riffs and lyrics of blues artists and sang Beetles songs on tour, but Stairway to Heaven is an original.

These people are wrong!! stairway is original, but over a dozen HAVE been ripped-off from others. I have read court fillings where the members of Zep settled out of court to keep things quiet. One song boogie with stu, was actually stolen from someone several years earler it was titled " OH, MY HEAD" Don't have the artists name, sorry!!
