I think he is awesome to put his family first I am a Lakers fan and I like Fisher when he played for the Lakers. I think he is a real nice guy and not caught up in all that celebrity facade!

Derek Fisher's decision is the greatest decision ever by an NBA player, it's either life or death.

It just proves how great he is on and off the court.

He is a great example of a man who would put away money, fame, and glory, just for his daughter.

He is a great example of a Father and a Player.

I agree with him.

Fisher is a class act for wanting to be there for his daughter. He is not the only one who has done this though. Chris Spielman did the same thing for his wife when she had breast cancer and the last time I heard she is still in remission. I'm sure there are others as well but i cant think of any offhand. To his daughter get well soon and hopefully Derek can come back and play.

I think he's doing the right thing by everyone by concentrating on his family. The NBA schedule takes you away from your family a lot and given the illness his daughter has he should spend as much time with them as possible. He will still be an attractive free agent pick-up either later this year or next year if his daughter recovers.

I think it means Derek has his priorities in order. There is nothing more valuable than family. He should be given the NBA's Most Inspirational Player of the Year award.

the reason why he wants to leave now is because he wants to play more instead of being a back-up behind a 2 year player

I just don't know why he did it in the off season, there's nothing going on for him right now. But he obviously has his priorities straight, God Bless.

I think it shows true character, it also shows what a great father he is.
