I'm going to start with a very funny book..."Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Terry Pratchett has been mentioned already and his solo works are incrediably funny, but don't read Neil Gaiman expecting a belly laugh, but his stuff is VERY funny to the right sense of humor (he always makes me laugh).

Bruce Campbell, know for his campy acting (Evil Dead movies, Xena, etc) has a sense of humor that will slay you and has several books out there...I highly recommend them.

If you have a macabe sense of humor, look at Edward Gorey books, short and sweet but oh so wicked.

Susan Reinhardt cracks me up every time.

And I'll leave you with one more. One of my all time favorite writers...Douglas Adams! Though most people focus on his "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" books, I also suggest reading "Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency" and the sequel "The Long, Dark Tea Time of the Soul." All of his work is hysterical, especially if you appreciate british humor.

Sure can.

- James Thurber (old humor - '30s and '40s - he used to write for _The New Yorker_)
- George Saunders
- Garrison Keillor
- Umberto Eco (he's Italian - get _How to Travel With a Salmon_)
- Kurt Vonnegut

And check out this website: http://www.mcsweeneys.net . You will LOVE it. And the company publishes books by many great literary humorists.

Oh, have you read David Sedaris' sister, Amy Sedaris? She's also gotten good reviews.

Terry Pratchett's "Diskworld" series is great. Also, Christopher Moore is very funny. Anything at all be either of them will have you laughing to the point of pain. Seriously.

Oh yeah, and Tim Dorsey. I can't believe I almost forgot him, he's a riot.

Tom Robbins. He is funny , witty, wild and occasionally borders on the obscene. Irreverently reverent. Check out Skinny Legs and All, Jitterbug Perfume, Another Roadside Attraction.. heck, read 'em all! enjoy.

Terry Pratchett! He is GOD! Seriously, he's an awesome writer and his humor has this mix of crudeness and philosophy that absolutely crack me up...His Discworld novels are classic.

Other good authors are Harry Turtledove and Neil Gaiman.
