...get a real job. Every friggen kid in the US is worried about how to be an actor or rapper, its retarded. Do something for society. Yes I know that art IS good for society but there is a ridiculous surplus of egg heads with no REALISTIC dreams to do things that matter in this country. We dont need more.

What ever you do, don't fall for the so-called talent agencies that will egg you on and collect money from you.

Decide if you're going into acting or modeling. Don't be so vain to think that you can do both, because there are a precious few people on Earth who can.

Have you acted in any productions in school? Where you the best actor there? Think of all the kids who want to be NBA, MLB, NFL, etc stars, when they aren't even the best player in their school, much less their city.

Next time you go out to eat, remember - most of the waiters and waitresses wanted to be actors or models and are 'between' gigs.

For acting, check into local theater groups or summer productions. Most actors spend years in the background and few become stars.

For modeling, beware of the vultures. Just remember that Vanessa Williams lost her Miss America crown because a photographer revealed compromising photos of her, taken when she was younger.

There is no shortage of beautiful guys and gals in the U.S., any color or ethnicity. Talent is another matter. Get a job, and enroll in a college that teaches acting. Modeling is short-lived at best, and you will have to focus on not eating--not healthy. The competition is intense. Check out more substantial careers in the entertainment industry--costume design, cosmetics (as in preparing sci-fi characters), prop design and construction, sound technician, lighting, cameraman/person, etc. Thjere are dozens--maybe hundreds of careers that focus on ability, not just looks and popularity. Besides, have you seen the sleezes that pass for actors lately? You can do better.

If you want to model, you have to submit your photos to the Modeling Agencies in New York City.

You need a Talent Agent or a Talent Manager to submit you for auditions.

Get Your Parents to subscribe Backstage West for you which is a magazine that gives out info on auditions.
In addition, read through magazines like Seventeen, Vogue, etc and newspapers, they usually have agent numbers throughout the magazine or on the last few pages.
Pay attention to radio stations to KissFM or hip hop radio stations they usually announce auditions.
that is my advice. Be active.

Start with local community theatre and then the nearest professional theatre. Work your way up while learning the craft. You'll find out quickly if you're talented.
