I volunteer at the zoo and I need to know if tigers are legal in captivity, what kind, and how many there are I have heard there where over 1'000 in captivity and I think it was the Bengal tiger and I know it was in Texas, but, I 'm not positive so if you know it would be great to get an answer. Thank you

No, only in Detroit.

Just kidding. I would tred with extreme caution when wondering whether a known human attacking animal would be a good pet, or work well in captivity.

Tigers are really beautiful, but keeping one or several in captivity opens all kinds of possibilities for things to go wrong.

This is best kept to the zookeepers.

Seriously, inquire with the local police department before you do anything.

I think you need a permit to own tigers in Texas.

Yes you can own big cats such as tigers (and lions and leopards) in Texas. The rules for ownership vary greatly depending on local ordinances.
