This Is A Difficult Question, The Lasers In The Drives Have An "Hours" Rating Meaning How Many Hours A Laser Will Run Before Burning-Out (10,000 To 100,000 Hours) This Would Mean Burning A Disc Every Hour of The Day For A Year (10,000) To Eleven Years (100,000) Usually A Lot More Hours Than You'll Keep Your Computer. But Usually Something Else Goes Wrong With The Player LONG Before That. Or You Upgrade To Something Better/Faster/More Storage.

Hehe, I like the previous answer. They do wear out, some have mechanical failures, others just suck. Anything with moving parts eventually wears and breaks.
How many can be as little a 1 cd or as many as a thousand to tens of thousands. I've had a burner that has been used for over 5 years now and still works. I've had some burners for a year, and stop working. You will never tell.

sure, you could burn a CD or DVD without the internet in any respect. All you like is a CD force able to writing to the CD. If his computing gadget did no longer comprise one, he can purchase one for below one hundred funds i've got faith at a shop like ultimate purchase or Circuit city. For the 2nd part of your question, no, i would not think of they could placed on down your computing gadget. inspite of each and every thing, that's what they're meant to do, write to CDs, precise?

Yes, the optics will eventually wear out after a certain usage but I have no idea how many CDs/DVDs it can burn before it is toasted.
You might want to start tracking down starting today. Your observation will be greatly appreciated.
