Yes. I Can Be Shy At Times But Around Some People I'm VERY Outgoing! I Don't Drink Alcohol Either.

I hate it when people call me shy. I am not shy. I am quiet. There is a difference. A big difference.

I like to go out, I like to drink and dance, and I like to stay in and read and go online. I must say that sometimes I don't open up the way I could. And that is what I strive for. To become comfortable in my own skin. I will never be like those people that talk and talk and talk and talk. I like silences...

And yes, a shy person can become outgoing... a socially phobic person should seek the aid of a therapist and meds...

YES. You know how I know? I am extreemly shy. Im very EXTREEMLY quiet around people I dont know, and I would hardly even talk about anything when people would talk to me. When people are in they're comfort zone, thats when they drop their guards and become outgoing. Usually when surrounded by good atmosphere, a shy person will eventually come to the surface and chill.

Yes but it is almost like you need to hit the bottom of the barrel to do it. I used to be very backwards and shy I was very lonely for many years because of this, I had to one day get fed up disgusted with my self and say "That is it, this doesn't work!" "Look where it has got me, am I happy like this!?" Once I did get to that point I was turned off of being shy, now I am more flirty and feel better. I still have a way to go but I am getting to be more that guy that women like rather than the guy that puts his coat down for a beautiful girl and her boyfriend to walk over a mud puddle while getting the shaft from her boyfriend, "Hey thanks a lot here this is for you loser." Now I see myself as good as any other guy, a women could love me and be attracted to me.
Basically I had to kick myself in the pants and say "Be a real man!" "I'm better than that!" and "I deserve what I want!"

By the way you look pretty good in that pool.

Yes. I used to be shy alot. Whenever I went to one of my parents friends partys I always used to be shy. Especially at school. But then one day I realized that being shy will get you on where in life. So right there I decided to be a whole new confident person. Not caring what others thought.
:D

I'm the perfect example. A few years ago, I was so shy, I was just a loner. But during my senior year in high school, I got happier and more talkative and I literally made friends with everyone around me because I just talked with everyone so much. So YES. I remember my friends telling me i'm so different now than before.

alcohol just creates more problems. There is nothing wrong with being shy,we make up half the population,it's not a defect. It's true that the more self confidence one has,the need to withdraw is lessened, and we become comfortable in our own skin.As to completely changing to an extrovert, well,I have moments, but I am who I am,just make the best of it....

yep, you're talkin to someone who has overcome shyness.
you really just have to get it thru your head that it doesn't matter what other ppl think about u. i know it sounds so cliche, but its not an overused saying for nothing! if ppl dont like u for ur outgoing personality, then whatever, you'll live, wont u?
thats how i look at things.
good luck!

absolutely - I was terribly shy until about 17, then I socialised but kinda kept quiet, now at 28 I love socialising! I think it comes with age and experience.
