The meaning of life, after YEARS of searching, well, the best answer I could come up with is LOVE. When you fall in love with someone else, you'll find out.

The value of existence fluctuates with the mindset of an individual. I believe everyone came to this lifetime with a specific intent. Some of us get lost along the way, some of us become entangled in the minor human dramas of life and get sidetracked while others are able to focus on their original intentions and use their existence to work at and achieve their goals as directly as possible. To improve your outlook try reading "The Alchemist" about personal legends. If you want a more weighty arguement for reincarnation and life reviews and purpose of existence, look into books/cd's by Dr. Brian Weiss. Also, "Ask and it is given" that discusses the universal law of attraction is another empowering book. Either way, good luck with your life. I've been where you are and have thankfully come out of the funk through affirmations and manifestations. When life gets difficult, I remind myself that I am in control and therefore regain control and bring my energy back in line. Namaste ~ Maria

If you don't give your existence meaning or value, then you are making a self-fulfilling prophecy.
We have the capacity to help each other and to hurt each other.... that's not aimless. Are the consequences insubstantial? Only if you convince yourself that they are. Relationships between people are meaningful - we derive happiness and belonging and love from being with others.
I personally believe I was created for a purpose by a higher power. I can choose to live out that purpose or not. I have responsibility to the people around me, and I am responsible for helping who I can help, and loving who I can love. I am sometimes good at it, and I'm sometimes bad.
I suppose if you believe that we have such advanced minds, capable of creativity and emotions and complex problem solving, by pure evolution and accident, then existence really has no purpose.
I don't believe in a higher power in order to assign purpose to an empty life. I recognize the higher power as already having purpose for a life that would be otherwise empty and purposeless without him.

I don't think so. To be considered a planet, it must pass 3 things: 1) it has a fixed orbit around a parent star. 2) is big enough to maintain a spherical shape. 3) clears an orbit around a parent star. So if a "planet" doesn't have a fixed orbit, or clears an orbit than it isn't considered a planet. However, there might be objects that are as big as a planet that are wandering aimlessly through space.

I believe that you are correct that there is no ready made meaning or value 'out there'. I also believe that we are able to create meaning and value, which is what those of us fortunate enough to have a sense of purpose in life do. I'm convinced that this can be done in a way that can be deeply satisfying. But I'll also admit that I don't think it is an easy task for any of us. It is something that we spend a lifetime adjusting.

Existence is everything you make it. If you want to live life aimlessly, thats your choice. But life can be so much more than that. With much more meaning and fulfillment. Sometimes when we fall into a rut it seems meaningless, but we get over it if we are persistent. If you believe that there is more to life than misery and aggravation, eventually peace will find you. Everything that exists in this world plays a part in it. Everything that breathes has a purpose. You just have to find yours. You cant give up. If you choose to throw away that purpose, or choose not to look for it, than it is that much harder to get back.

Existence is for the conquest of space, and the spreading of human intelligence throughout the universe.
Until the very day a human begin stands at the edge of the universe and and says "Let there be light!" and presses the button that sets off the next Big Bang that creates a whole new universe.
That is our destiny, to evolve indefinitely.

If you look at all the patterns and natural cycles that exist one might conclude there is a grand purpose. It's good to have unanswered questions it keeps us thinking and growing. If you don't see its value you're missing a world of beauty. Go walk barefoot in the grass right now.

If you are about you and only you, then I would tend to agree, however if you are about things larger than yourself, then it is about that.
I exist, but I am not aimless. I serve many convictions and people for the benefit of others. I am served in this endeavor in that it gives me much satisfaction, and connection with others.
I will add, that my beliefs lead me to goals that are achieved after death, so I do not see my existence ending, but continuing without end. in this, I have much to look forward too.
Meaning and value are subjective....perhaps you require a change of perspective.
