I don't share your pessimistic views
Crime is actually lower today than it was in the 1990s
For example the Murder index (per 100,000) by year:
1991 - 9.8
1992 - 9.1
1993 - 9.5
Compare to recent years:
2003 - 5.7
2004 - 5.5
2005 - 5.6

We are different than other counties, They aren't going through what we are.
I saw the movie Shooter today and it made me think of Bush!
I thought if we got rid of Bush maybe things would get better, but I am not sure they will get much better. It seems they do just enough to keep most of the people from revolting.
We have allowed to few rich people take the whole damn country over. They think they own it and the politicians, and they probably do!
In 1991 we had over 200 Million people, we know have 300 Million. Instead of percentages, why don't you give us the actual number!
Noticed you didn't mention 2005:
Murders were up 3.4 percent and arrests of juveniles for murder were up nearly 20 percent over 2004
http://www.fbi.gov/page2/september06/crimeintheus091806.htm
There were 14,860 murders in 2005!
I guess you did. Crimes are on their way back up!

The social crimes in the US can never make the country fall apart. These things are also happening in the mega-cities like Tokyo and Seoul.
Smuggling of drugs is now run on a massive scale internationally. The drug trade is controlled by powerful syndicates of organized crime in mafia-like ways.
Prostitutes are no longer treated as the immoral scum of the society.
One of the leading UN specialized agencies, the ILO (Internal Labour Organization) has redefined the term 'prostitutes' as 'sex workers'.
There is almost worldwide recognition that sex workers services are a social reality. Like other workers, they also make a living by selling personal services.
Social protection of such women from exploitation from international criminals is now being recognized. These criminals lure them into prostitution in rich countries like Japan, Germany and Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland).
Take a bit of heart to know that the US is not falling apart.

I agree that crime rates are down and the media tries to scare us into thinking otherwise. If anything is falling apart it is our education system. Our children are learning less and less. I have friends who have high school diplomas and they don't even know what two bodies make up congress. I mean, how do you NOT know that and still graduate. Voting on American Idol seems to be more important then voting for a president.

When you read about the fall of the Roman Empire, there are a lot of correlations to their last days and what is going on here right now.

We're no different than any other country. Those things happen everywhere. We're just more open in the media here, and discussing it.
