I keep seeing everyone here refer to Dubya as a Texan....let me tell you here and now he is NOT a Texan. He was born in Kennebunkport, Maine. NOT TEXAS! It is an insult to every Texan here to assume he shares our values and judgements. HE DOESNT!

he was born in Connecticut, went to school in in Massachusetts, college at Yale and will be buried in Maine when he dies. He never owned a ranch (all hat no cattle) he bought some land in 2000 just before the presidential election, so people would think he's a good ol boy from the country, which is not true. He is new england blue blood. He has not spent the most of his life in Texas. age 6-14 in Texas (8 years) 1977-1988 in Texas (11 years) 1990-2000 (10 years) out of his 61 years he has spent 29 in Texas. He is not a Texan

I'd call him Texan enough, I mean he lived here for years and was the governor and all, and still has that ranch in crawford that always seems to need that brush cut. I don't think you have to be born in a certain area to claim it, as long as that's where you most identify with. I knew he wasn't born here, but he sure doesn't seem like the typical maine citizen to me. As it was put to me by a Kentucky-born Texas resident, "I wasn't born here, but I got here as soon as I could." Wether or not he shares your particular politics doesn't reflect on the whole state, though the fact that he defeated a governor as popular as Ann Richards and was elected by the citizens of Texas as their governor might show a little about who shares his values. What do you know, he was even re-elected in 1998. I'm not saying I think he's an angel or that he always makes perfect decisions, but if it looks like a Texan, acts like a Texan, and sounds like a Texan, it just might be.

I doubt everyone assumes that just because he grew up in Texas that everyone in Texas shares his values and judgements.
You do know the old saying about assuming don't you?
It's makes an *** out of u and me!!

I live in Texas and I would like to thank you for saying it's an insult to assume he shares our values. I opposed his stupid war before it started.

Why is this an issue in the head of libs.

He did spend most of his life in Texas; not that it matters to anyone who is sane.

I consider myself to be an Oklahoman even though I have lived in many locations. But it really does not matter to anyone who is sane.
