Yes, I was depressed and homesick (went out of state) during my college days and that was before we had antidepressant drugs. I kept busy and took a full load of courses (one semester I took 19 credits!), with several one hour (required) courses.

I have medical and psychological problems, in addition to learning disabilities. Petit mal epilepsy (w/prescribed meds), depression (now I have Lexapro), and thyroid meds all help me these days. My learning disabilities were not fully documented until I had just about completed my masters degree.

Counselors are very helpful and I think most people can benefit from them. I know they have helped me a lot in my life and inspired me to become one.

Best wishes.

I was depressed, homesick, and didn't eat at all during the 1st couple semesters (I survived on PB on Saltine crackers). I decided to see the counselor on campus and was given work I needed to do in order to get out of my rut. I was also set up on a special meal plan where I could get some other foods like fruits and veggies. If you are feeling this, I suggest you do the same and see a campus counselor.

Best of luck.

College is stressful and most professors realize that (if they're young enough to remember it). I feel depressed and anxious all the time. If it's not school, it's my job. If I'm done with finals, then I start stressing about grad school. This type of thing is normal, but it doesn't mean that you should keep it to yourself. Tell your friends, family members and teachers. They'll understand and possibly help you through it.

I think everyone has those moments. I know that I have gone through that during my journey in college. With burnout from work and school and not being able to date as much, I get depressed a little more than I used to.

I was seriously depressed in college. I spent a couple of years during which I cried most of the time, and I dropped out twice.
