For those of you who work in retail would you get annoyed if a customer came into your store to buy 1 or 2 items every day?

No, because I know that I am satisfying that person and as an employee or store owner you want to give that person the best services as they are a good patron of your business.

Not unless they were nasty about it. They are a steady dependable customer and making them happy is what retail is about. If they by little, they probably say to others, I enjoy shopping there. Besides, most of the people in the store are strangers and it is fun to connect to repeat visitors. I used to enjoy greeting a store clerk without ever knowing his name because he was helpful - I made a point to look for him.
On the other hand, a person who wanders the store with a large purse or bag and only buys 1 or 2 items will attract attention because they may be shop lifting.

What type of retail are you in? Coffee? Annoyed-not so much, more like grateful for the chance to try and convince someone that they can overcome their addiction to half-caff. Underwear..ugh..yeah. A lil scary. I'm actually a well-groomed, youngish, attractivish customer (will never be a seller since I'm deaf + hate people in general) who is scared to frequent anyplace, even my local gas station, since I think the workers are going to think I'm annoying and crazy. But I can't help it if you're the only stop on my 45 minute hellish drive to work. It has nothing to do with you. So when I do frequent someplace I am sure to leave a huge tip...then I get paranoid they think I am overtipping cuz I want to bang them...and they're gross and I don't...so I don't go back. What's wrong with you freaking retailers? Don't you want to promote a good enough product that people feel comfortable enough to stop by more than once a week, even everyday? Everyone wants their "Cheers"! Stop making them feel like a Cliff. Make em' feel like a Norm. It's your JOB. And if you're scared of stalkers, make up a fake name for your little badge, and wear weird makeup. I like Tai-zea for a badge name myself. Invites conversation. Justin or Sara is good for the nonconversationalists.

I'm curious why it annoys you. Is this person rude? Is this person hitting on you? Is this person doing anything that could be considered out of line? If not, what's the problem? I have had daily customers that if they didn't show up, I'm sending out the radar as to are they OK? People now know to tell me if they are going out of town for a vacation. They love it and so do I. Obviously there is something that is bothering you about this person. Maybe let someone else wait on them. Or, foolish as this may sound, ask them.

No, isn't that why you have a business......? To sell things to people who need the items?

Maybe start giving him a discount for his items that he buys, he will always be back, yes?

Sorry if you are just a cashier or clerk, but treating people with respect is part of your job. Like it or look for something that has customers look up to you, like,,,,ummmm.....I don't know, I can't think of a place like that.....so in the meantime, own your own store and like his business or ....????

I don't know how a store can refuse business to a particular person unless you like lawsuits.....

No, I wouldn't. I would feel annoyed only if the customer were rude to me every day.

Why?
He is paying money and you are doing your job selling. You have no right being picky if the guy buys something in small quantities every day. At least he is buying, not stealing!

I really wouldn't be annoyed about it. I would be more concerned about it. That person might like you or be casing out the store.

Not really.
They're just a good customer.

I'd get annoyed if they asked me the same questions over and over though.
