Well since Clinton pardoned so and so, Bush can pardon these people.

Well Clinton lied about having relations with Lewinsky, so Bush is allowed to lie to the United States about some of his actions.

This is as mature as the statement made by a young boy to his mother "But Mommy! Johnny got the G.I. Joe, I should get one too!"

A parallel to this is China saying "Well America violated child and slave labor laws to be where they are today, so we should be allowed as well"

Is it just me? Or are those in power today using the mistakes of the past as excuses to make more problems for the future instead of learning from them?

Alright, maybe the pardons wasn't a good point since it is a Presidential right, but one other question I saw tonight said that Clinton made 140 pardons and that Bush by all rights (I guess in a sense of precedents, not necessarily because he has the right to)gets to make 139 more (Scooter Libby counts as one).

Also, one more arguement that conservatives make. "If you don't like the country, then get out of here"

Of course they aren't going to leave, this is their home. They want to change it.

I'm sorry, but in my honest opinion these are the people that make the United States divided the way it is and help start arguments on a daily basis, creating pointless dribble on the television that is no longer journalism (FOXNews, CNN Headline News, etc.)

Honestly, you need to get out of the party football game.

Ron Paul is the only candidate right now who REALLY follows the constitution.

These two families are desperate attention loving power mad elitists and want to retain control of their respective political parties. They are using each other to ‘soften' their disapproval in the opposite party. We have two simultaneous dynasties - the Bushes and the Clintons. The Bushes are the hand of the Republican arm and the Clintons the hand of the Democratic arm. The body is of course controlled by one mind that outranks them all, the corporate fascist elite.

Just as the two major parties - with isolated examples of winning third party candidates - control who can win elections, these two family dynasties control who can be nominated inside their respected parties.

There has not been an occupant in the White House outside of the Bush or Clinton families since 1988. This will seemingly continue through to 2012 and beyond. How can this be in a constitutional republic?

Police State policies such as the Patriot Act, put in place by Bush have set the stage for the next Clinton who will be able to exploit them to extremes far beyond the Republicans would ever dream of being able to. Under another Clinton a horrific event like that at Waco under William J could become an everyday occurrence.

The policies stay the same, the faces alternate. The elite system of control has worked this way for centuries, when it's time for a change one dynasty takes a backseat and the other moves forward.

The Clintons and the Bushes are comparable to the Lucchese and Genovese families: they have their little spats, but at the end of the day they eat their gnocchi from the same table. The Democons and the Republicrats are the left and right hands of a single body. The mind of this body is intent on bare handedly tearing apart freedom and ripping to shreds the constitutional form of governance that was created to bring down this elitist rabble.

Because they don't have arguments with any substance.

Bill Clinton's "scandal" was titilating enough to draw attention from his real accomplishments, and the republicans via talk radio et al had a field day with it.

On the way to turning liberal into a "dirty word" they resorted to sound bites and fundamentalists as a substitue for true and rational reasoning.

This administration has had scandal after scandal, From ripping off the native American tribes, turning back the clock 50 years on environmental issues, Enron, having the vice presidents chief of staff take the fall for the rest of the administrations wrong doings, shredding the constitution by way of the so called patriot act, taking us into a stupid war that has killed and maimed the real patriots in this country, ruining relations with our allies and the rest of the world...I'm just getting warmed up, shall I go on?

They can't keep 4 million mexican citizens from entering the country illegally every year, what makes them think the Homeland Security BS is going to be effective in stopping a terrorist? Just pose as a mexican, and they're in.

Could address the rape of the social security system, artificial manipulation of the price of gold (hence our currency), the national debt on the verge of compounding on itself (remember when we had a budget surplus?), and issuing notes of indebteness to China, but I won't.

No, it's far easier and more sensational to condem Bill Clinton for his BJ with lewinsky.

Bottom line, not a single US Marine died under the desk in the oval office.....

Bush hasn't pardoned anyone. Libby went down for the simple fact that the democrats in congress didn't have the balls to go after Cheney.

Do a search for Presidential pardons. You'll find that almost every, if not every, president pardoned someone. Carter even pardoned Robert E. Lee.

Because it is the only way they can justify anything Bush does.
If it would have been Clinton or any other democrat, they would have been burning statues of them in effigy on the 4th of July.

They'll always cry about double standards, when in fact, they are the ones supporting the double standard.
As if One president doing it makes it right for another one doing it. Its time to quit crying about Clinton, the guy has been out of office, for how long?
Did Clinton pardon a man that obstructed an investigation, which could have jeopardized national security??
Then they try to justify it with..."every prsident pardoned someone" DUUHHH

I, as a conservative, have never said that Bush should be allowed to lie to the people, all presidents should be held accountable if they are caught lying to us!

The ability to pardon people is a power that all presidents have and can use!

There does seem to be a double standard for liberals and democrats. They do something nefarious and it's said to be no big deal. A conservative or a republican farts in an elevator and they try them for disturbing the peace and it's all over the news!

They not only bring up Clinton , but I have seen answers on here that indicate this is Bush's first parton or commute. They need to check the facts first. As of June 29, 2007,President George W. Bush had issued 113 presidential pardons to people who have served their entire sentence, and has commuted in addition the sentences of four people. Spinning the facts doesn't make them true.

I use the point of the Clinton Pardons to point out one simple fact. The constitution gives the President the right to pardon. Its one of the perks of the job.

If Perhaps he shouldn't have it, maybe we should start working to take that right away from him?

Conservatives today are feeling desperate. The Bush admin. is completely out of control. Some conservatives have had the courage to criticize him, but others believe 'my party right or wrong'.

So how do you justify Scooter Libby's pardon? Well you listen to right-wing talk radio and they give you talking points. No underlying crime. Armitage was the real leaker. Joe Wilson was a liar. Valerie Plame was just a desk worker.

I've heard these all at least 20 times today. But in fact all four of these assertions were found wrong in the trial. There was a FAIR trial, by a judge appointed by GW Bush himself, and Scooter was found guilty on 4 felony counts.

So when the talking points don't work, they fall back on the same old saw Republicans have used for six years. They talk about Clinton.

Fred Thompson led the charge against Clinton in the Senate during his impeachment. Thompson went on record over and over saying that Clinton should be impeached and go to jail for perjury and obstruction of justice. But Thompson managed the fund-raising effort for Libby's defense, and advocates his pardon FOR THE SAME EXACT CRIME!

Clinton's only -real- crime was being a Democrat! 8^)

The worst part is bush stated in his 1999 campaign his administration would not be as scandalous as the previous administration, and when he was elected, he said he would bring this country together. His administration was WORSE than Clinton's, and this country has not been this divided since Vietnam. He will go down as the WORST President in history.

You are completely right. We should be learning from our past mistakes (and our ancestor's mistakes) to prevent them from happening again. These people in power also need to stop playing the blame-game. Specifically, I'm speaking about who was at fault for 9/11...when they should see how it could have been prevented and do what they didn't do before to help prevent another attack like that from happening...because playing the blame-game gets nothing accomplished.
