He is great with the extreme cases.. some of the others are so cut up they make it seem easy..

For example I have a hound who is okay most of the time.. he is decent on a leash.. and using many of the techniques I "picked up" from Cesar he's getting better, but there is always a point where I have to reteach at the beginning of the walk.. the problem is there are 2 other dogs that need to learn to walk, but I can't get one completely trained without ignoring the other 2.. and then once I try to step it up to 2 of the dogs (as he shows on tv.. if you have one trained the other will figure it out).. it doesn't work, the one that is "trained" starts behaving more like the other one.. But, these dogs can not be brought to any kind of group training either.. (one of them is dominant aggressive, the other is nervous agressive.. and mine doesn't need any training unless he's WITH the others)

So, while the show is very interesting.. without having any local reference for that type of training most people are screwed.. with an EXTREME case you might get him out to see you, but it's not likely. I agree with his methods more than any others.. ( I've had numerous bad experience with dog trainers including them ripping the fur and cutting the skin off my collie/husky/wolf mix.. grr)

I really like him, but many are beginning to put down his methods. They say they are "cruel and outdated," but I have to disagree.

People also try to make a point against him because there is a disclaimer at the beginning of his show that says to not try these things at home without professional assistance. I must point out, however, that they do this with horse training videos as well. They say these things not because their methods don't work, but because many of these animals can be dangerous when being handled.

Anyway, Cesar has a way with canines that many wished they had, and I like his methods of dealing with problem dogs. :)

Have watched each programmes, despite the fact that Dog Whisperer presently now not running after son knocked the Satellite dish, so looking extra Victoria Stillwell (long-established united kingdom variant). One factor I like approximately Victoria's programme is that they first cross via with the issues, Victoria's recommendations, making an attempt them out, generally first inspiration does not paintings i.e. puppy nonetheless runs off so they are trying some thing else till some thing works, then they make the landlord train those matters by means of themselves for the following month, after which re-seek advice from to look how matters cross. In different phrases it's extra like truly puppy coaching i.e. you do not simply cross to a coaching magnificence you hold doing some thing over and over till it really works. I am definite the equal guidelines to the landlord to train this and many others, occurs at the puppy whisperer however they're edited out. Back to the Dog Whisperer I do believe he's generally obsessive about dominance, very similar to different puppy running shoes, I consider he instructed one proprietor that her boxer crying whilst installed a small crate for eight hours used to be approximately dominance whilst honestly it is approximately a sociable animal now not in need of to be close up and left. Nevertheless plenty of the answers paintings regardless of the philosophy i.e. a brief stroll on a lead across the block isn't ample (Victoria UK fairly extraordinary as no puppies on lead regulations, so all approximately educating recollect as good as day-to-day pastime) with a puppy barking at horses, it is sensible to only sit down them down casually close the pony (I'm definite Victoria could do the equal), till they are used to it. Similarly pulling again on a choke chain does not aid, so different matters like relocating the result in the facet aid. I believe the one episode I could absolutely disagree with is whilst he used an electrical surprise collar which I am a company believer will have to be banned.

He has good advise,
BUT
Training methods should be "custom" to each dog. Each dog is different, and has different problems. You have to be sensitive and responsive to that.

Also, some of his methods are down-right dangerous. Challenging known "biters" and taking them out on leashes can be disasterous if you're not super experienced and strong.
I just think, for some people, his methods are a little extreme.

He rocks. But a lot of dog trainers disagree with his methods. There are a lot of local trainers who are just as good as him but haven't reached that level of fame. Whatever works for you and your dog.
