You don't. That's like converting kg to cm. They are two entirely different things. m^2 is area, m is length.

If you already know the following just ignore me. Square meters are created by multiplying two amounts of meters. Such as if you have a small room that is 4 meters in length by 3 meters in width you would determine the area of the floor or ceiling to be 12 square meters. If you had a hallway of 6 meters in length and 2 meters in width you would get the same area as the formula for area is length * width for a rectangle. To convert backwards you can only come up with one answer of the many possibilities that are available to create the answer in square meters. That answer is the square root. The square root of 12 is 3.464 so that says simply that if you had a square room each side would have been 3.464 in length or that the length and the width were equal and that it was 3.464. So now that you see the relationship between the numbers will getting the square root of the square meter give you an answer that you can use. If so just get the square root of your square meters.
I know my answer was long but I myself didn't think the answer saying that they were like apples and oranges very helpful and that there is certainly a connection. It is more like comparing individual handfuls of apples to flats of apples. Good luck

I believe that you are comparing apples to oranges. In other words, square meters are a unit of AREA, and a meter is just a unit of LENGTH. There is no conversion for your question.

You cannot. It would be like converting an acre to a straight line. Can't be done.
