I think fairness is a basic right in America, the point is that many of the War Supporters, and maybe most of them, can help get a War going, but stand no chance of being drafted and having to fight in the same War and possibly die in the same War. I think fairness requires that everyone should be required to serve or be eligable to serve during any war. What do you think?

As an American citizen who served his country for 8 years, I pray to God that there is a Draft because:

I would serve on the Draft Board and make sure I draft all rich kids from Politicians and the Wealthy and put them in Infantry (11 Bravo) on the Front Lines of Battle....This would end the War as quick as a Nanosecond....This Senseless war would End because it is easier to send someone else's Poor Sons and Daughters to War instead of your own....

The reason that I served America was because I felt that there were Soldiers of all colors, races, religions, and creeds that Died so that people like Me and You can express our opinions on Websites like this....To me, It was a Duty to Serve...

If I were President of the U.S., I would make sure that Military History was Mandatory Curriculum in Class because we are the Most Ignorant Country in the World when it comes to Foreign Policy...Every other Citizen in another Country knows what's really going on in Iraq and the Middle East except Americans because we are Propagandized by a Media that was bought and Sold by Corporations and Lobbyist....

If I were President (Commander In Chief), I Would end this Senseless War in 6 Months....TOPS

The concept of Universal Military Training is an idea whose time has come. Like the Swiss and Israel every citizen should be required to do at least two years of active duty and several more in the reserve. This isn't the same as a draft where some are passed over and others called. Universal means everyone physically and mentally able. We could still have a 'volunteer' force within this system, but the idea of Americans having what amounts to a mercenary force is an insult.

I think that the draft should be re-instated, even though I
have 2 sons that may have to go and 3 girls if they extended
the draft to include women. But as long as the military is
surviving on an all voluntary basis, the time for a draft
is not yet here.

I enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War (1966 - 1969)
this was an unpopular war and the draft was in effect.

You say that we should be available for any war, are you
saying that those that are still living that fought in WWII, Korea
and Vietnam should be available to fight in Iraq?

Have you had the chance to fight for your country? or are
you saying that only the War supporters should get drafted?

Right on. Being drafted to become better men and women is a great idea. They have a national draft in Switzerland, Israel and in many parts of Europe. I would be proud to be drafted however since I fought at the Alamo I am exempt.

No, we have a voluntary military! We do pride ourselves as living in a country with the highest individual liberties and freedoms! Bringing back the draft would take some of those freedoms away! The only time we need a draft, is in a dire all out war, where we do not have the man power to defend our country from falling into enemy hands!

I think fairness isn't a right in our greatest nation on God's green earth.

I also think you, and everyone else has the opportunity to call up the local recruiting station and do the patriotic duty of serving your country on a great day tommorow.

Almost everyone is eligible to serve their country, at any time. Are you trying to say that Hillary should have to fight the war she supports?

Anyhow, I fully oppose conscription. If I'm going to fight, I want it to be next to someone else who also wants to fight, not next to some draftee.

The problem is they always have written exemptions in so rich white boys only fight if they want to, Cheney himself had 5 deferments, Rush Limbaugh used a cyst on his butt to get a 4F classification so really only more poor, middle class, and kids who really support the war go in

hello,,i think this was talked about before and when all the kids that belong to political leaders grow-up past that age of draft,,then you can go die for them too.

Quick question. What percentage of the military voted for Bush? How many of them coming back have anything but good things to say about what they have managed to accomplish over there? Conservatives and 'war supporters' make up most of those in the trenches already, trust me.
