I recommend getting a Mac. Macs are very secure and a lot faster and easier to use than PCs. I, too, was once deciding whether to get a Mac or Vista. In the end, I went to an Apple Store and tried a Mac and it was the best experience EVER!! Trust me, once you use a Mac, you will forget about vista and love your new Mac. To solve your MS OFFICE problem, buy a copy of Vista or XP and virus protection software (for PC) then, download Boot Camp on your new Mac and there you are, MS OFFICE on your new, shiny Mac. See how easy Macs are? Go with a Mac.

I would recommend a Mac. I've been using one for a little over a year now and I'm hooked. Simply put, it just works. 3rd party developers have stuck to Apple's graceful design and it flows perfectly. As an added bonus, the new Intel Macs run Windows flawlessly along side Mac OS X, it's the best of both worlds. As for MS Word, Office 2004 on Mac is fully compatible with Office 2003. You may or may not know, the new formats in Office 2007 are only compatible with Office 2007. Good luck in your computer hunt.

If you're asking: What is the best operating system?
They are all different, offer different pros and cons, and fill different needs for different people.
I personally believe that the best operating system is the one that you like to use and that meets ALL your needs. That is the bottom line.
If your really asking: Is a MAC worth the price. IMHO, yes.
Try this experiment: Price out a MAC at www.apple.com Then, price out a virtually identical PC at www.Dell.com, www.hp.com etc.
Then, add Vista Ultimate (like OS X), M$-Office (Neo-Office free for OS X), Norton Internet Security (no OS X malware), Back up software (Included), and any other software you may need on the Windows PC.
Then, compare prices, you will find that the Mac PRICE will be very close.
Finally, go to an Apple Store and take one for a test drive, ask lots of questions and then, decide for yourself.
Use the free Neo-Office and you won't need M$-Office.

I've always been partial to PC and now that Apple seems to be focusing on the iPod and iPhone, eventhough Microsoft and Sony have produced game systems their PCs haven't lacked in quality. Get a PC.
