Bonds could care less about his team or anything else except for his own personal glory.
And he learned from the best. His dad Bobby was also the biggest jerk in baseball 35 years ago. Of course Bobby was just a rank amateur in jerkyness compared to Barry.

I think Bonds is driven to get 3,000 hits, the HR chase is just a side effect. Since he became a star, he has had problems with the press. I think that he feels his father was treated badly by them, and his father is one of the best players ever not to be in the HOF, and the reason he has done most of what he has done in baseball. It has been a long time since Bonds has pushed for SF to be a winning team.

Bonds has never been a team player. He may set the career home run record but nobody other than the fans in San Francisco will care. After Bonds breaks that mark, he is going to either retire or try to find some other record he can add to his accomplishments.

I remember reading a great article in sports illustrated about how barry bonds is a jerk and a horrible teammate. Bonds had a radio that he liked to listen to in the lockeroom when he played for the Pirates. When he left the Pirates, before one of the games afterwords, the team smashed the radio.
As for these days, bonds doesnt even dress in the same place as the team. he has a separate room, with a 50 inch plasma screen only HE can see.
Bonds is a selfish piece of crap, he has never done anything for the team, or for the fans, everything he does is to benefit himself.

Barry Bonds has not been concerned with winning--or anything not revolving around him--for the past five seasons. He is the worst baseball has to offer in terms of attitude and respect for the team. I can't even remember the last time he got a grass stain on his uniform.
He is maintaining his career to break a mark which he so ill deserves. Once that is over, he, too, will be over, retired and resting on his laurels--his synthetic, performance-enhancing laurels--reminiscing about a career ruined by needless, avoidable controversy, and all the while wondering what all of the fuss is about. . . .

Bonds is not a team player. He is playing to get the title so he can go down in history as a great player ( thou he's not since he's tainted) and then he will retire and be an arrogant parent instead of an arrogant player.

I couldn't help but laugh when I read your question. Thinking about Bonds and helping his team makes me laugh. The only team Bonds has is his little entourage he takes to the games and to practices. He is a self-centered jerk who only wants to get the recognition of owning a record then calling it quits. He's a genuine douche bag.

Make no mistake, Bonds is in it for his own glory. His godfather, Willie Mays, taught him that he needs to be more media friendly and more of a team player so he's changed in the past few years and says the more politically correct things. But he is not a team player at heart. He's a jerk and once a jerk always a jerk.

Barry is always about himself. I think he could care less if he ever wins a World Series. If he ever wins a ring it means the team was involved in it and Barry is all about Barry.
